Sprachreise
Every year in September class 4HS spends 10 days in England to improve their language skills und to get to know life and social institutions in a different EU-country. The students and two teachers are accomodated by host families who try their best to make them feel at home. English conversation becomes part of the students' every-day lives.
We go to Sidmouth, a small town at the south coast of Devon in the western part of England. The students enjoy lessons in the mornings and excursions in the afternoons, sometimes also activities in the evenings (bowling, video evening, ...).
Small groups of students visit e.g. the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a donkey sanctuary, a nursing home, the town hall and a school for the deaf. Sightseeing tours include Bath, Plymouth and Exeter. Sports like cricket and swimming and a walk to a picturesque village are also on offer.
When the class returns to Austria, they usually have new motivation to talk, read, write and listen to English and their ability of expressing themselves in this language improves.
